layers of chiffon for the weekend

with the holiday weekend upon us we are sending happy wedding wishes to our bridal client and all of her bridesmaids! 

we have loved working with all of them on their custom dresses that each personify their exciting personalities!

we hope everyone enjoys the three day weekend and soak up the last summer rays!

mining the mineral mica

once you turn the corner from the mica sprinkled trail, you find yourself 

amongst a vast open expansive quarry that takes your breath away..

 the mica jets out of the feldspar and quartz that hold it together..

 miriam searches for the perfectly cleaved pieces that will work the best for each accessory..

 little insects weave in and out as they watch the intruders at work..

this mica mine is a very special place, and each time miriam visits, 

she finds the glisten and expansiveness overwhelmingly inspiring.

journey to the mica mine

the peninsula that marks the destination for the path to the mica mine..

once the trail is found, traces of mica lead you through the birch woods..

 the sun glimmers through the leaves that glisten in the breeze from the lake..

the forest floor grows a shelter of ferns that protect the world below..

a mouse sat still as miriam passed by..

the hike through the woods seems like it is never ending.. until the light at the edge of the trees grows..

lake. landscape. loons.

designer miriam spent a week away, up north, at north west angle..  

it is the one time a year where she escapes and the world stands quiet for a little while..

 she is drawn to the simple beauty that the landscape encompasses with the whistling 

of a loon not too far off and the seemingly endless milky way above her head..

check back next week and she will share the adventure of collecting our signature mineral mica from the mine.

summer is coming to an end, but the excitement at the studio is building up!  

our september is full of exciting events we would love to share with you..

we will be showcased at the wit hotel's roof runway series september 13th.. 

you and your friends are invited to come and see our new a/w '12 collection 

and a sneak peak at our s/s 13 collection!

prior to our fashion show, designer miriam has been nominated for the fashion 

group international's rising star award!  september 12 at hotel sax is the ceremony 

to announce the winners.  miriam is honored to have been chosen to be part 

of this wonderful event and invite you all to support this cause!

we hope you enjoy the last warm days of sunshine and cool breeze off the lake and to see you soon...

a peek into the special day of one of our november brides from last year... 

champagne tulle gathered and draped on top of ivory satin with satin covered buttons down the back..

 an ivory wool jacket to throw over the gown to stay warm from the lake breeze..

we wish them both the best as they begin this new journey in their lives.

a new season sneaking in

the august diversey shopping series is upon us! be sure to come into the 

studio this wednesday (8.15) to snag our newest exclusive studio item.  

 a faux mohair knit shift that is perfect for the end of summer with the 

crisp autumn air sneaking in.

she is taken aback by the beauty that surrounds her and looks 

forward to bring the inspiration to her designs...

'i think i can kaftan'

with a new month came a new challenge...

for a custom bridal party a special request of a kaftan was made...

miriam has enjoyed navigating through this new design, silhouette, and drape...

it is only the third day into august... we cannot wait to see what new challenges will come our way!
